The purpose of this guidance document is to further convey and provide guidance on the ACLASS proficiency testing/inter-laboratory comparison requirements. This document is intended to give ACLASS customers, assessors and experts the necessary understanding of proficiency testing/inter-laboratory comparisons in order to achieve and/or maintain accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025. |
| |
| ACLASS Guidanace on Surveillance and Reassessments |
The purpose of this document is to establish guidance regarding surveillance and reassessment activities by ACLASS. |
| |
| ACLASS Guidance on the Transition to ISO/IEC 17025:2005 |
In order to ensure consistent implementation of the new standard, this document states the ACLASS requirements for transition to ISO/IEC 17025:2005. |
| |
| ACLASS Guidance on Traceability |
The purpose of this document is to establish guidance on traceability requirements for all laboratories accredited by ACLASS. Customers are required to demonstrate traceability for their reference standards and reference materials which in most cases includes measurement uncertainty. |
| |
| ACLASS Guidance on Uncertainty for Testing Laboratories |
The purpose of this guidance document is to establish guidance on traceability and measurement uncertainty requirements for all testing laboratories accredited by ACLASS. Testing customers are required to demonstrate traceability and measurement uncertainty as defined within this document. |
| |
| ACLASS Guidance for Field (On-Site) Testing and Calibration Including Multi-Site Laboratories |
ISO/IEC 17025, General Requirements for the Competence of Testing and Calibration Laboratories, is used by ACLASS for all of its accreditations. Although ISO/IEC 17025 applies to field (on-site) testing and/or calibration, including multi-site laboratories, additional guidance is necessary. |
| |
| ACLASS Revised Traceability Policy |
This memo outlines ACLASS' traceability policy as a result of signing several international mutual recognition arrangements (MRAs). |
| |
| ACLASS Guidance on Scopes of Accreditation |
This guidance document is intended to assist both ACLASS assessors and ACLASS customers, both accredited and applicant laboratories, in drafting scopes of accreditation. The recommendations and guidance made here are intended to allow adherence to both ILAC guidance documents and ACLASS requirements, while helping to standardize formats across the range of potential accredited tests and calibrations in the sphere of ISO/IEC 17025 accredited operations. |
| |
| ACLASS Guidance on Measurement Uncertainty |
The purpose of this document is to establish guidance on uncertainty requirements for all laboratories accredited by ACLASS. It is also intended to help clearly distinguish three different terms and types of uncertainties in the ISO/IEC and ANSI/NCSL Z-540 systems. These include measurement uncertainty, best measurement capability, and TUR uncertainty. Accredited customers are required to demonstrate the measurement uncertainty for each of their accredited calibration and/or testing procedures. |
| |
| ACLASS Guidance on Symbol Usage & Use of ILAC Combined Laboratory MRA Mark |
The purpose of this document is to provide guidance on use of the ACLASS symbol and use of the ILAC Combined Laboratory MRA Mark. |
| |
| ACLASS Uncertainty Guidance for Dimensional and Mechanical Calibrations |
The purpose of this guidance document is to help provide examples of uncertainty budgets (i.e. calculations) for hand tools, hand gages and scales and balances. Additionally, this document should help to provide for a better understanding of preparing an uncertainty budget. This guidance document is not meant to encompass all the statistical treatments required for many uncertainty determinations. It was designed to assist calculations in many of the simplest situations, not requiring statistical use of degrees of freedom for example. |

Industry Guidance Documents
|
|
ILAC Guidelines on Scopes of Accreditations |
| The purpose of this publication is to provide information on how to define the scope of accreditation and to identify some criteria and ways of assessing the scope in order to provide practical guidance for an effective and harmonised application of the relevant international Standards. |
| |
|
APLAC Guidance on Stating Test and Calibration Results |
| This document gives guidelines on the method for stating test and calibration results and compliance with specifications. |
| |
|
APLAC Guidance on Measurement Uncertainty in Testing |
| This document provides interpretation and guidance on measurement uncertainty in testing for various technical disciplines. It is intended for use by laboratory accreditation bodies as well as laboratories. |
| |
|
NIST Guide on Uncertainty for Scale & Balance Laboratories |
| The goal of this guide is to provide service personnel with a method for identifying and quantifying the uncertainty components for scale and balance calibrations in both the field and laboratory environments. |
| |
|
NIST 811 - Guide to Expression of SI Units |
| This Guide has been prepared by NIST to assist those who may have need of such assistance, in the use of the SI in their work, including the reporting of results of measurements. |
| |
|
NIST Guide for Timer & Stopwatch Calibrations |
| This NIST Recommended Practice Guide was created to a fill a gap in the metrology literature. It assists the working metrologist or calibration technician by describing the types of stopwatches and timers that require calibration, the specifications and tolerances of these devices, the methods used to calibrate them, and the estimated measurement uncertainties for each calibration method. |
| |
|
EA Guidance on Thread Gauges |
| This guidance document is intended to improve the harmonisation for the calibration of parallel screw thread gauges. It compares the definitions of screw thread parameters and gives information on what can be measured or assumed in order to achieve traceable results and what shall be reported in the calibration certificates. |
| |
|
EA Guidance on Gauge Blocks |
| This document provides guidance to calibration laboratories to establish practical procedures for the calibration of gauge block comparatorss |
| |
|
EA Guidance on CMMs |
| This document has been produced to provide information on the measurement capabilities of coordinate measuring machines (CMMs) and the treatment of measured data. |
