ACLASS Accreditation Services is committed to superior accreditation services including those for Reference Material Producers (RMPs) following ISO Guide 34. This is an area of great international interest and activity in recent years. ACLASS has maintained on-going participation in this international effort.

The potential accredited areas encompassed in the RMP arena may entail any of a lengthy list of materials used for critical and measurable properties in the biological, chemical, clinical, pharmacological, food, physical, mechanical, engineering, environmental, and forensic sciences. The accreditation assessments will involve assessment compliance against the requirements not only of ISO Guide 34, but also Guides 30 through 35 as well. Much of the value for RMP accreditation, however, relates to international confidence in the RMPs themselves. This leads to international trade assurances, and assurances that international guidelines are followed in the production, labeling, assignment of property values to the materials, including stability and homogeneity determinations.

Like our other accreditation services, including ISO/IEC 17025 (for testing and calibration laboratories) and ISO/IEC 17020 (for inspection body accreditation), RMP accreditation not only involves assurance of technical competence and good quality management practices, but adds verification of critical production management of the RMP(s).
