ACLASS Food Test Lab Accreditation

ACLASS offers accreditation for Food Testing Laboratories

In addition to reviewing the requirements of ISO/IEC 17025, this accreditation adds the requirements from the AOAC and its ALACC subgroup for pharmaceutical and/or food testing labs. Accreditation provides the laboratory and its customers assurance of microbiological and chemical analyses of samples within a food testing laboratory. The checklist used in the assessment uses the AOAC guidelines, which were created as an interpretation of ISO/IEC 17025 and provide detailed criteria to aid in assessing the essential requirements for food testing laboratories.

ACLASS accredits hundreds of food laboratories across the world and our knowledge of the science of food and laboratory accreditation allows us to provide value-added accreditation services to the food testing community.

To apply for accreditation please download an application or a request for quote.

Food Safety Law Requires Accreditation

In January 2011, President Obama signed the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) into law. Under this legislation, laboratory accreditation will be mandatory for food testing. The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) is in the process of promulgating rules to meet the legislation. To learn more about this legislation and its potential impact on your organization, contact ACLASS. You can also follow the FDA's progress by visiting the FSMA website developed by the FDA.
